Sharon Plattner (1946-2025)

Sharon A. Plattner, 78, a 51-year resident of Beacon, died March 2 at her home, surrounded by family members.

She was born July 18, 1946, in Rye, the daughter of John Skelly and Rita Hansen. On Dec. 24, 1972, in Rye, she married Morton Plattner. After raising her daughters, Lauren and Alison, she returned to work as a bank teller until her retirement. She enjoyed the theater and traveling with Morty.

Along with her husband, Sharon is survived by her daughter, Lauren D’Onofrio (John) and their daughter Amanda; her daughter Alison Polidore (BJ) and their children, Haley and Hudson; and her sister-in-law, Randy Plattner Krengel.

A funeral service was held March 7 at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey in Beacon, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Carol Santos (1954-2025)

Carol Patricia Santos, 70, a resident of Beacon for nearly 30 years, died March 2 at her home.

She was born Dec. 25, 1954, in Peekskill, the daughter of Horace and Dorothy (Sherwood) Keesler. On April 1, 1971, in Peekskill, she married Nemesio Santos Jr., who died in 2017.

Carol’s hobbies included cooking, baking and arts and crafts. More than anything, she cherished her grandchildren, her family said.

She is survived by her children, Victoria Taylor (Robert) of Beacon, Nemesio Santos (Autumn) and Jessica Marie Santos; her grandchildren, Rihanna Taylor, Meadow Santos, Aura Santos, Trey Walker, Chloe Walker and Journey Rose Lena; and her sisters, Dorothy Miller and Patricia Keesler. Two sisters, Judy Strang and Nancy Keesler, died earlier.

Giselle Valentin (1986-2025)

Giselle Valentin, 39, a 27-year resident of Beacon and formerly of Añasco, Puerto Rico, died March 4 at Westchester Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 10, 1986, in Cold Spring, the daughter of Gladys and Gilberto Valentin. Giselle had worked as a medical assistant at Optum.

Along with her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Destiny Oquendo; her sister, Xiomara Valentin; and her nephew, Noah Cuello.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday (March 9) from 2 to 6 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman St., Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held March 10 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow St., Beacon, followed by interment at St. Joachim Cemetery.
