Lecture at Vassar to be followed by performance

Vassar College will present a lecture on Dido and Aeneas, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Skinner Hall, followed by a performance of the Henry Purcell opera at 8 p.m. Both events are free.

Julie and Frans Muller will set the scene for the performance by the Vassar College Choir by exploring baroque opera and putting Purcell’s piece in historical context. Julie Muller has written extensively in Dutch and English on English song texts from the Renaissance to the present, while Frans Muller’s specialty is 17th century English opera theater design.
