Peter Goetz

Peter Goetz, 89, of Cold Spring, died May 31 at his home.

He worked for over 50 years as an attorney in the construction and real estate fields and was a founding partner of Goetz & Fitzpatrick. He was consistently included in New York Magazine’s Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers.

He enjoyed flying, sailing, tennis, skiing, travel and being with his family and his dogs. He was a pilot since his college days at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He flew for weekend trips to Nantucket for a lobster roll, multiday flights with the family to the Caribbean for a sailing adventure and a trip to South America in his 70s that defied logic, his family said.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Eliran, and his children, Andrew, Lucy and Jane. A Celebration of Life will be held June 23. Memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County (careofdc.org) or the MPN Research Foundation (mpnresearchfoundation.org).
