Lower Hudson Valley could be hit overnight (Aug. 6)

The state Office of Emergency Management said on Tuesday (Aug. 6) that heavy rain overnight may cause flash flooding in the lower Hudson Valley, including Dutchess and Putnam counties.

Cold Spring officials said they expected the rain to begin about 3 p.m. and intensify around 5:30 p.m. One to two inches is predicted along with up to 4 inches by 8 a.m.

Palettes of sandbags are available to village residents at the northwest corner of the municipal lot next to Riverview on Fair Street while supplies last. The village also advised that residents know where their gas and electric shutoffs are and how to use them; have flashlights and batteries at the ready; avoid driving on flooded roads; and check on vulnerable neighbors.

The areas affected are shown in red on the map below.
