Emily Forbes (1932-2024)
Emanuela “Emily” S. Forbes, 92, a resident of Fishkill since 2013 and formerly of Beacon and Mohegan Lake, died Oct. 22.

Emily was born June 26, 1932, in Beacon, the daughter of Carmine and Anna (Fasano) Serino. She worked as a secretary at the Goldsand Agency for 10 years and as an administrative assistant at IBM Yorktown Research for 30 years.
Before moving to Fishkill, she was a parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Yorktown Heights, where she was a eucharistic minister. She also volunteered for the Yorktown Food Panty and was a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus. After moving to Fishkill, she volunteered with the Fishkill Food Pantry and Birthright of Dutchess County.
Emily is survived by her children, Marie Forbes, Scott Forbes (Rosemary) and Sharon Forbes (Dave Simmonds); her grandchildren, Roseann (Amanda), Elizabeth (Matt), Margaret (Kevin), Scotty (Michelle) and Brian (Ally); her great-grandchildren, Dietrich, Cole and Fallon; her sister Mary Williams; and sisters-in-law Claire Serino and Carolin Serino.
Her siblings Giriaco Serino, Michael Serino, Carmine Serino, Lucia Eustace and Rose Camp; her sister-in-law, Joan Serino; and her brothers-in-law, Charles Williams and Bruce Camp, died earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St. in Fishkill, followed by interment at the Old St. Joachim Cemetery in Beacon. Memorial donations may be made to Birthright (birthright.org).
Peter Ruf (1961-2024)
Peter Kelly Ruf, 63, a longtime Beacon resident who had recently moved to Georgia, died Oct. 20.

He was born April 29, 1961, the son of David and Margaret “Peggy” Kelly. He was known for his larger-than-life personality, generous spirit, good humor and a warm presence that could brighten any room, his family said. Much of his career was spent as a salesman at Freedom Ford in Beacon.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and their son, David; and his siblings, Kathy Anderson (Bob), Patricia Ruf, Kelly Igoe (Jim) and Chris Ruf (Debbie). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara. His brother, Dave, died earlier.
