Beacon Mayor Lee Kyriacou on Wednesday (Nov. 6) renewed an executive order banning all exterior open burning, including the burning of leaves and contained bonfires or campfires, because of the extended dry weather and high risk of wildfires.

The mayor said he issued the order after consulting Fire Chief Tom Lucchesi and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Management. Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne issued a similar order on Oct. 28.
