Joe Marchese (1957-2024)
Joseph Charles Marchese II, 67, died Nov. 19 at his home, surrounded by his wife and sons. He and his wife, Laurie Giraud-Marchese, split their time between New York and Florida.

A proud man of a few words, Joe kept a tight, intimate circle of friends, his family said. He spent 40-plus years in the insurance industry and was known for his work ethic, business acumen and commitment to excellence.
Joe was an avid fisherman and member of the Cold Spring Boat Club who spent much time on the waters, from the Hudson River to Montauk, down to the Florida Keys and all the way to the rivers of Alaska.
He loved to spend time in the kitchen and was an excellent cook. He had an affection for fast cars, Cuban cigars and Johnnie Walker Black. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, which led him to become a lifelong Steelers fan. Joe was an award-winning photographer credentialed by the New York Jets. Joe held many titles, from coach and president of the Philipstown Little League to executive vice president at Alliant.
Along with his wife of 35 years, he is survived by his sons, Joseph, Matthew, Christopher and Jay; his daughters-in-law, Angela and Kelsey; and his granddaughters, Veronica and Madeline.

Diana Sanchez-Malon (1944-2024)
Diana Lynn Sanchez-Malon, 80, a resident of Garrison for over 40 years, died Nov. 17 at her home, surrounded by family members.

She was born Oct. 28, 1944, in Yonkers, the daughter of Nathan and Frances (Greenman) Ginsberg. She was an artist who loved working with paints and sculptures. She played the piano since she was a little girl and was fond of the opera. She loved spending time with friends, especially if it included a trip to the casino but nothing made her happier than spending time at home, where she spent summers swimming in the pool.
Diana is survived by her son, Adam Sanchez (Susan) of Wappingers Falls; her stepsons, Robert Malon (Toni) of Hopewell Junction and Steven Malon (Phyllis) of Fishkill; her grandchildren, Stephen Malon, Eric Malon, Kayleigh Sanchez and Josie Sanchez; her brother, Philip Ginsberg (Leslie); and her brother-in-law, Heinz Malon.
Her husband, Rudy Malon, her grandchildren, Alex Malon and Nia Sanchez, and her brother, Ronald Ginsberg, died earlier.
A Celebration of Life will be announced. Memorial donations may be made for cancer research or hospice care.
Augustine Silvestro (1949-2024)
Augustine David Silvestro, 75, of Cold Spring, and formerly of Yonkers, died Nov. 21. Born Oct. 2, 1949, he was the son of Michael and Luigia Silvestro.

He immigrated to the U.S. from Andretta, Italy and, despite many challenges, his family said his determination and work ethic enabled him to build a life that supported his young family. He was once married to Lucia Bastone, with whom he shared two children, Lisa Silvestro and Michael Silvestro, and three grandchildren, Scarlett, Jon and Marcello.
Augustine loved cars and mechanics, found comfort in the melodies of music and delighted in the simple pleasures of a good cup of coffee and a classic Western. His presence brought light and strength to those around him, his family said.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice, or another way to honor Augustine is an act of kindness or to pay it forward.
