A fundraiser hosted by Girl Scout Troop 1405 of Philipstown at the Bear Mountain Ice Rink on Jan. 29 raised $800 for three Gold Award projects by Haldane High School seniors: Josephine Foley-Hedlund is mapping veteran graves at the Cold Spring Cemetery, Zohra Kapoor is building bluebird and other animal habitats at Little Stony Point and Sophie Koch is archiving stories of the veterans memorialized with crosses at St. Mary’s Church in Cold Spring on Memorial Day.
Many of the younger girls and guests were skating for the first time, using orange traffic cones for balance, or as sleds pushed by older scouts.
