In recent months the nationwide Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program has provided aid to communities affected by wildfires in the northwestern U.S., earthquakes in Mexico and hurricane-ravaged locations in the southern U.S. and Caribbean.

On Nov. 5, members of the First Presbyterian Church of Philipstown Sunday School helped fill 15 buckets with cleaning supplies. The buckets will be shipped to a facility in Connecticut, which is continually restocked in preparation for the next disaster. Residents can donate new items such as scrub brushes, sponges, cleaning liquids, garbage bags and dust masks each Saturday morning at the Philipstown Food Pantry at 10 Academy St. in Cold Spring.
