The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested a suspect in the theft of a bicycle at a Philipstown park. The sheriff said a deputy was dispatched to the North Highlands following a complaint that someone had taken a boy’s $2,900 YT Jeffsy mountain bike while he was fishing.

The next day, investigators interviewed Roy J. Bishop, 61, of Fishkill, who they said admitted to stealing the bicycle, which he returned. He was charged with grand larceny and issued a summons to appear in the Town of Philipstown Court.

“I’m very proud of the work of the Sheriff’s Department and Assistant District Attorney [Melissa] Lynch, but I’m mostly proud of the victim’s courage in going through this process,” said District Attorney Robert Tendy in a statement.
