Longtime Cold Spring Resident David McCarthy Dies

David N. McCarthy, Sr., age 81, longtime resident of Cold Spring and Garrison NY, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY.
Born Sept. 19, 1928 in Peekskill, NY, he was the son of the late John and Lena (Feltman) McCarthy, Sr. Mr. McCarthy was a production manager for Tensolite Corp. in Peekskill, NY. After retiring in 1990, he worked as a security guard for Lloyds Lumber in Newburgh, Marist College in Poughkeepsie, and Boscobel in Garrison. Mr. McCarthy, an avid fly fisherman, was a member of Trout Unlimited and Garrison Rod and Gun Club. He was also a life member and Ex-Captain of Senate Hook and Ladder Company in Ossining, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Cross) McCarthy; two sons, David McCarthy, Jr. of LaGrange, NY and Bruce McCarthy of Plattsburg, NY; three daughters, Gail McCann of Fairbanks, AK, Susan Fulton of Tucson, AZ, and Kathleen Rodino of Cold Spring, NY; one brother, Kenneth Feltman of FL; three sisters, Dorothy Lough of ME, Virginia Simpson of ME, and Helen Peters of Glenham, NY; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter, Karen, and a grandson, Angelo.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10:00am at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cor. of Parrott & Pine Sts (21 Parrott St) Cold Spring, NY 10516 followed by a private cremation at Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale, NY.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
