Haldane High School will be featured on Madison Square Garden Television (MSGTV), Channel 14 on CableVision, Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
Haldane will be featured on High School Journal, a 30-minute program focusing on activities at regional secondary schools. Principal Brian Alm said that about 70 percent of the upcoming segment deals with Haldane, concentrating mainly on the arts.  MSGTV crews were at Haldane on three successive Tuesdays to shoot video and speak with students. The episode will include footage of The Blue Notes choral group and The Blues Devils jam bands. High School Sports Desk, another MSGTV program, will feature Haldane sports teams later in the year. Alm said that up to six sporting events could be shot, including girls’ basketball. He said programming may include some complete game coverage.
Haldane’s partnership with the MSG Varsity network is one of those almost-too-good-to-be-true deals. Haldane provides sports content to the network. In return, the school receives free television coverage, a video camera, two $1,000 dollar scholarships, approximately $1,000 for purchase of additional video equipment and a stipend for one Haldane teacher/advisor. Alm said that the MSGTV programming, “Is a great opportunity to profile the things that are unique and excellent about Haldane.”
