Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that arrests have been made in connection with the April 10, 2011 burglary at B&L Deli, located on Route 9 in the Philipstown Plaza.

Owners of B&L Deli told the investigators that the store was broken into overnight and that $3,000 in cash was taken from a locked office. Investigations led to the identification of 29-year-old Matthew J. Brown, of Cold Spring and 27-year-old Crystal A. Salomone, of Yorktown Heights as suspects. Salomone was an employee of the deli at the time of the burglary.

On June 15 sheriff’s investigators took the suspects into custody where they were charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, a class “D” felony and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class “E” felony. They were arraigned before Philipstown Town Justice Alan Steiner. Salomone was released without bail, but Brown was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility.  The couple is scheduled to appear in court on July 13, 2011. If convicted of the most serious charge, the pair may be sentenced to a term of incarceration of up to seven years.
