County Players continues its 54thseason with Once on This Island on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. Taking place on a Caribbean island divided by social prejudice, Once On This Island is a calypso-flavored retelling of the traditional “Little Mermaid” tale. The show revolves around Ti Moune (Jasmin Rogers), a poor peasant girl who falls in love with Daniel (Brad Moody), an upper class boy whose life she saves after a car crash. Various gods control the peasants’ lives and the show focuses on the effects social class divisions have on love.

Jennifer Turoff directs and choreographs.  Sharing the stage with Rogers and Moodyare are: Grant Benedict, Dawn Bernitt-Perito, Thomas G. Byrne, Mary Chojnacki Dallari, Hank Conklin, Sima Doctoroff, Frankie Fasano, Michele George, Allison Hightower, Joseph Gayton, Amber Jaunai, Harold L. Kimble, Emily Milne, Ruth Milne, Samantha Murphy, Jim Nurre, Emily Sorriento, Yvonne Tirado, Maggie Turoff, and Tracey Toufali. Turoff says, “I’m so excited to have a chance to be involved with this production of Once On This Island. The story is told through song and dance and it will make you laugh and cry. The music is infectious and will have you dancing in your seats.”

Subsequent performances are Nov. 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 at 8 p.m. and November 13 at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for seniors/children under 12.  Tickets may be ordered by calling the box office at 845-298-1491 or order may be ordered  online at www.countyplayers.org.
