Kathyrine Anne (Baricevic) Thorpe passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, Mar. 14, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathyrine was born on Aug. 30, 1930, the youngest of eight children. Kathyrine attended Our Lady of Loretto Catholic School and graduated in 1948 from Haldane Central School, where she met the love of her life, Lou Thorpe. She was predeceased by her siblings: Mildred Milkovich; Olga Benecasa; Anne Downey; John, Michael, Nicholas and Stephen Baricevic.

Affectionately known as Sooky, Kathyrine was a devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She and her dedicated husband Louis were married over 58 years. Together they raised three children, Terrance (Faye) Thorpe, Louis (Gillian) Thorpe and Kathyrine (Peter) Tomann, all of whom reside in Cold Spring with their families. She will be missed dearly by her ten grandchildren: Robert, Lauren, Michael, Reid, Kiefer and Wilson Thorpe, and Grace, Meghan, Emily and Maura Tomann.

Kathyrine was the matriarch of the family, devoted to bringing everyone together, instilling the value of family and importance of spending time together and supporting one another. Whether it was attending a sporting event or school play, she was a common fixture in her children and grandchildren’s lives.

Viewing hours will take place under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home on Monday, March 18, from 5 – 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring.
