William L. Post, Jr., age 76, of Chelsea, a former long time Cold Spring and Beacon area resident, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center. Born in Albany on November 17, 1938 he was the son of the late William L. and Audrey E. (Perpall) Post, Sr. He was predeceased by his wife Ellen (Cassetta) Post in 2002.
Mr. Post was an elementary school teacher for the Haldane School District in Cold Spring, retiring in 1998. He was a past commissioner of the Chelsea Fire District, a member of the Chelsea Fire Company, one of the original board members of the TEG Credit Union, a member of the Cold Spring Boat Club, a lifelong amateur radio operator (call letters K2BXE), a member of the American Radio Relay League and a member of the NRA.
Survivors include his companion Yvonne M. Tompkins of Chelsea; two daughters Jennifer (Jim) Barnaba of North Carolina, Hillarie (Peter) Larson of Groton, NY; one brother, Gary A. Post of Ellington, CT; two nephews; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his loving extended family James Tompkins of Chelsea, Shari Tompkins of Dallas, TX, Rhonda Barreneche of Carmel and Tracy Tompkins of Franklin Square, NY.
Private cremation has taken place at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. A celebration of Bill’s life will take place on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring. Friends are invited to call at the Clinton Funeral Home prior to the service on Friday, March 13 from 10 to 11:15 a.m.
