Filmmakers travel with veterans

The Downing Film Center in Newburgh, in partnership with the Mental Health Association in Orange County, will screen the 2015 documentary Healing a Soldier’s Heart at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. Admission is free, and a discussion led by Vet2Vet facilitator Everett Cox will follow the screening.

The documentary follows four Vietnam veterans, all suffering from severe PTSD, who return to Vietnam after four decades. The trip brings healing that allows them to mentor younger veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The film center is located at 19 Front St. It has 55 seats and doors open at 7 p.m. For more information, visit downingfilmcenter.com.
