Chuck Morgan

Chuck Morgan (1935-2017)

Charles R. Morgan, 82, of Poughkeepsie, died on Nov. 10, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by his family. His survivors include his two children, both of whom are Beacon residents.

Chuck was born in New York City on Feb. 7, 1935, the son of Thomas C. and Cassie (Fain) Morgan. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and CCNY before serving in the U.S. Army. He was an electrical engineer who began with General Electric in Schenectady but spent most of his career with IBM in Fishkill and Poughkeepsie before retiring.

Chuck was incredibly witty and all who knew him appreciated the unique perspective he brought to any conversation. He was a voracious reader, ever ready to learn more about the world. He enjoyed gadgets, football and the Giants, bad TV and cool jazz. He loved his family and friends. His inquisitive and practical nature found value in the most mundane things, which taught those who knew him to always appreciate the details in life that all too often go unnoticed.

His survivors include his children Douglas Morgan and Elena Morgan, both of Beacon, and his former wife, Maria Morgan of Fishkill.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., in Poughkeepsie on Nov. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice (hvhospice.org).
