Albert Duarte (1936-2019)

Albert P. Duarte, 83, of San Antonio, Florida, and formerly of Cortlandt Manor, died Nov. 8, 2019. Following his retirement after 30 years from the Grand Union warehouse in Mount Kisco, he worked for R K Graphics in Cold Spring.

Born June 28, 1936, in Peekskill, he was the son of Joaquim and Zulmira (Carnerio) Duarte. On June 19, 1960, he married Christina Coons Duarte at the Assumption Church in Peekskill. She died in 2016.

Albert is survived by his daughters, Veronica Mantenga (Anthony) of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, and Jacqueline Johnstone (Christopher) of Boynton Beach, Florida, as well as five grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Shaw of Hopewell Junction.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Nov. 23 at Saint Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, 3329 Johnson Street, Hollywood, FL 33021.

James DeSocio (1935-2019)

James M. DeSocio, 84, of Cold Spring and formerly of Buchanan, died Nov. 27, 2019.

He was born in Brooklyn on April 27, 1935, to James and Genevieve (Fischetti) DeSocio. After moving to Buchanan, he built a home and business, operating Peekskill Tool and Die Co. with his business partner, John Schratz, for 35 years. James was an avid gardener, craftsman and outdoorsman.

He is survived by Angeline, his wife of 57 years, and by their children: MaryLynn Miller (Bryan); Michael DeSocio (Kathleen) and Jennifer Padilla; and his grandchildren Anthony Miller, James DeSocio, Patricia DeSocio, John DeSocio and Joseph DeSocio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road, in Montrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at St. Christopher’s Church in Buchanan, with burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Verplanck.

Bob McCaffrey

Bob McCaffrey (1949-2019)

Robert McCaffrey, 70, of Cold Spring, died Nov. 27, 2019.

Bob was born May 2, 1949, at Peekskill Hospital, the son of Edward and Lorretta (Cloak) McCaffrey. A graduate of Croton High School, he was a lineman for Con-Ed until his retirement in 2007. He is survived by Debby, his wife of 37 years.

Bob was a Yankees, Giants and Jets fan. He enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Sadie, who referred to him as her “Pa.” He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his dog, Romper.

Besides his wife and granddaughter, Bob is survived by his daughters, Breana-Marie Rivera (Cory) and Heather Fanelli (Eric) and their daughters, Victoria and Samantha; his brothers, Edward McCaffrey (Linda), Michael McCaffrey (Peggy) and Patrick McCaffrey; and his sisters-in-law, Carla Doucette (Gerry), Darlene Poulin (Yvon) and Michele Marina (Richard).

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main St., in Fishkill. A funeral service will be held on Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Christine Torchia

Christine Torchia (1928-2019)

Christine Torchia, 91, of Ocala, Florida, and formerly of Cold Spring, died Oct. 4, 2019.

Christine was born in White Plains on March 28, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Angela Santa (Favia) D’Ambrosio. She moved to Ocala from Cold Spring in 1979. Her family said she will be fondly remembered for her Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings.

Besides her husband of 67 years, Alfred Torchia, she is survived by her son, Joseph Torchia (Florence) of Ocala; her daughter, Rosemarie “Ro” Riddle (Paul Sr.) of Ocala; a brother, Anthony D’Ambrosio (Judy) of Charleston, South Carolina;  a sister, Claira Torchia, of Cold Spring; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Oct. 8 at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala. Memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Club of Belleview, P.O. Box 47195, Jacksonville, FL 32247.

Marianne Trimble

Marianne Trimble (1939-2019)

Marianne Iva Trimble, 80, a lifelong Cold Spring resident, died Nov. 23, 2019.

She was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Cold Spring, the daughter of Howard and Iva Marie (Zeliph) Howell, and attended Haldane High School.

On Oct. 1, 1955, in Cold Spring, she married Patrick Trimble, who survives at home.

According to her family, Marianne was known to be the mother that would feed all first, then herself. She enjoyed birdwatching, gardening and wildlife.

Along with her husband of 64 years, Marianne is survived by her children: Patricia Merandy, Allison Shea (Phil), Edward Trimble (Myretta) and Lisa Trimble; as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings: Jane Baltich (George), Howard Howell Jr. (Anna), Larry Howell (Elaine) and Gayle Quackenbush (Tom).

A memorial service was held on Nov. 26 at the Libby Funeral Home in Beacon.
