Concerns about spread of COVID-19
The Cold Spring Village Board on Oct. 15 asked residents and visitors to “scale back and spread out” Halloween festivities and trick-or-treating due to the pandemic.
It noted that the Cold Spring Police Department will not block off streets to vehicular traffic as it has done in the past and that many residents of popular spots such as Parrott and Parsonage streets have agreed not to offer candy or decorate their homes.
The Board of Trustees asked in a statement that residents forego or scale back Halloween festivities and shut down at 6:30 p.m. Officials said they are not prohibiting trick-or-treating but encouraging everyone to “keep it local” and follow guidelines established by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The parade sponsored in the past by the Chamber of Commerce will not take place, although The Current is organizing a “parade in the paper” and costume contest.
