Billy Coughlin (1958-2023)
William “Billy” Coughlin, 64, a lifelong resident of Beacon and Fishkill who recently relocated to Cape Cod, died March 29.
He was born in Beacon on July 30, 1958, the son of Charles and Joan (Boland) Coughlin. He graduated from St. John’s Elementary School and Our Lady of Lourdes High School before attending Dutchess Community College. During his school years, he exceled in skiing and football.
On July 4, 1981, Billy married Elise Ann Kirchner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Beacon.
Billy worked in construction and masonry, specializing as a sport-court dealer and game-court builder. He enjoyed building sports courts, had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, was a gifted masonry craftsman and owned his own business for many years. Billy was a member of the Chelsea Sportsman’s Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Uncle Billy Club. He was a communicant of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
He loved telling a good joke, relaxing on Cape Cod, listening to music by Todd Rundgren and Tony DePaolo, spending time in the Adirondacks and having a good barbecue. More than anything he loved spending time with his family, especially chatting and playing with his grandkids.
Along with his wife of 41 years, Billy is survived by his children: Brendan Coughlin (Shaina) of Agoura Hills, California; Kaitlin Cammarata (Joseph) of Melrose, Massachusetts; Lauren Coughlin of Somerville, Massachusetts; and Colin Coughlin (Gracie Clapp) of Los Angeles.
He is also survived by his father, Charles Coughlin (Kathleen) of Chelsea; his grandchildren, Sawyer and Parker Coughlin of Calabasas, California, and Vincent, William and Charles Cammarata of Melrose, Massachusetts; his siblings, Linda McNiff (John) of Beacon, Barbara Papula (James) of Chelsea, Mary Paggi (Lawrence) of Wappingers Falls and Michael Coughlin of Phoenix. His mother, Joan, died in 1995.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place on April 5 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering (mskcc.org) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
Justin Hasbrouck (1995-2023)
Justin Richard Hasbrouck, 28, a former resident of Beacon, died April 2.
He was born April 1, 1995, in Poughkeepsie, the son of Richard and Lisa Hasbrouck. Justin attended Beacon High School and graduated from Ketcham High School in 2013. He was employed as an event coordinator for Mattress Firm.
Justin’s energetic demeanor always made you feel loved, valued and happy in his presence, his family said. No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave with a story of something funny or crazy Justin did while you were with him.
He was driven and ambitious, and loved to travel, work out and experience new things, his family said. Justin had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share himself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person he knew.
Justin is survived by his mother, Lisa Hasbrouck (Kurt McMillen); his father, Richard Hasbrouck (Jean Voght); and his siblings, Anthony Velez, Eric Hasbrouck and Ashley Hasbrouck, and her children, Jayden Hasbrouck, Adrian Williams and Lee’Ana Williams.
He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Ilene Merced; his stepbrothers, Jesse, Brian, Joseph and Daniel Voght; his aunt, Jennifer Parsons (Marvin) and their children, Marcel and Jordan; his uncle, Christopher Merced (Nicole) and their son, Maverick; and his aunt, Kelley Hasbrouck.
Services will be held Tuesday (April 11) from 2 to 6 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman St. in Beacon. A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
