Wanted: Dedicated individual, willing to work at part-time for community betterment and no pay”¦

 The Village of Cold Spring seeks candidates for a vacancy on the 9-member Special Board for a Comprehensive Plan/Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan. Open to Cold Spring residents, the voluntary position requires a commitment of at least 15 to 20 hours per week. Duties include attendance at two regular monthly meetings, currently held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday from 7:30  to 9:30 p.m., as well as separate meetings for committee work and other tasks related to preparation of the Comprehensive Plan.
       Village officials ask those interested to submit applications no later than 4 p.m., on Tuesday, July 27. Candidates should provide their background, qualifications, and an indication of a willingness and ability to devote the necessary time to the post. Setting forth the vision of Cold Spring’s residents and a framework for reaching it, the Comprehensive Plan will guide overall policy and help shape decisions on laws, including zoning, and the future of the village. Work began in mid-2006 with formation of an ad hoc exploratory committee and the Special Board began its efforts in January 2007, following appointment by the Village Board. After 3 years of investigation, reports, community forums, and similar activity, the Special Board intends to complete the Comprehensive Plan this year.
