With the threat of inclement storms as winter approaches, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC) has announced the following road closures.

Bear Mountain State Park’s Perkins Memorial Drive will close for the season on Dec.1.

Lake Welch Drive and Tiorati Brook Road will close for the season on Dec.1.

Arden Valley Road remains closed due to storm damage and will probably remain so through the winter into spring.

Seven Lakes Drive will remain open unless unforeseen conditions occur or if ongoing construction at the Askoti-Skanattati Dam necessitates its closure.

Orange County section of County Route 106 (west of Kanawauke Circle) is closed due to storm damage.

Rockland County portion of Route 106 (east of Kanawauke Circle) is currently open. PIPC notes that it cannot guarantee the status of Route 106 because, though it traverses the park, they are not park roads.

Cyclists sometimes ride on the Palisades Interstate Parkway between Memorial Drive and Seven Lakes Drive. PIPC notes that bicycles are not permitted on any portion of the Palisades Interstate Parkway. They suggest that the cyclists make arrangements for transportation (on the Parkway) by car or van from one road to the other.

Additional information about road conditions or closures can be found by calling 845-786-2701, ext.242.
