Regular storm prep reduces service interruptions, speeds repairs

Central Hudson was ranked among the top utilities for its response during Hurricane Sandy by J.D. Power and Associates, based on results of a sample survey of residents served by 31 utilities across 12 states affected by the storm. The study places Central Hudson in a tie for fourth overall and as the highest-rated New York state utility, earning exceptional rankings for leadership, communications, efforts to support recovery and overall effectiveness.

“We are very proud of our standing in this study by J.D. Power and Associates, and delighted our customers reported that we served them well in the aftermath of this devastating storm,” said James P. Laurito, president of Central Hudson. “Equally deserving of this honor are county and municipal leaders, emergency responders and the community service organizations providing needed services before, during and after the storm,” he said.

Earlier in the year, Central Hudson was also awarded the Emergency Recovery Award for its response to Hurricane Sandy by the Edison Electric Institute in January, its third award for storm recovery by that group.
