Motorcycle hits utility pole

A 56-year-old Fishkill resident was killed Wednesday night (Oct. 7) along Route 9 in Garrison when his motorcycle went off the road and hit a utility pole, according to the New York State Police.

Bill Jesshope was riding north on his 2008 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic at approximately 10 p.m. For an unknown reason his bike veered off the road near Old Highland Turnpike and crashed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Route 9 was closed for about four hours while the accident was investigated, according to the state Department of Transportation.
