The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley distributed 181 scholarships totaling $311,364 to students in the Hudson Valley, including many 2017 graduates of Beacon High School. The foundation, which administers funds for donors, received more than 1,000 applications.

- Morgan Hotaling and Samantha Phillips of Haldane High School were among 10 students presented with $300 scholarships by the Putnam County Retired Teachers’ Association.
- Lianna Culp of Garrison, who attends Wesleyan University, was recognized with the White Fellowship awarded for excellence to a graduate or advanced undergraduate in the government studies program.
- Kindu Green (Graphic Design), Jade Herring (Graphic Design), Jarek Panko (Security & Law Enforcement), Michael Patchen (Security & Law Enforcement) and Rayna Thompson (Culinary Arts) were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society chapter of the Dutchess BOCES Career and Technical Institute. They each attend Beacon High School.
- Kerri Moseman of Beacon, a senior at Clarkson University majoring in biomolecular science, was awarded the Dr. George L. Jones Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award, which recognizes an outstanding student in physical chemistry.
- Leah Giavatto of Beacon was one of 102 SUNY Potsdam student-athletes to be named to Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the the State University of New York Athletic Conference for 2016-17. Giavatto is a member of the women’s basketball team.
