Also adds fleet of carts with GPS

The county-owned Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac has hired a golf pro to succeed Jim Woods, who left in the fall to become the pro at a course in Bedford Spring, Pennsylvania.

Jari Tompuri, a graduate of Carmel High School who owned the Carmel Beverage Center before moving to Texas and becoming a PGA Professional, returns to the Putnam County after working at courses in San Antonio and Arkansas.

The course also announced it has purchased a fleet of golf carts with GPS systems that offer yardage, course information and monitor the pace of play.
