Debut production of the World’s End Theatre company at Depot Theatre
Director John Plummer describes The Seagull as painfully hysterical and hysterically painful, and it gets to both places by trucking so masterfully in human life, with all its aspiration and degradation. How do we make this bracingly truthful script come alive? By pushing ourselves to banish fear and embrace our own and each other’s full-bloom humanity, with all the attendant pain and joy it brings. In other words, I expect it to get ugly if we are to make something beautiful. We are doing high-wire emotional work, no net. And this, dear readers, I plan to share with you to the best of my scribbling ability.
The Seagull runs from May 20 through June 12, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Call 845-424-3900 for reservations or visit http://www.philipstowndepottheatre.org/.

I’m not really into theatre or Chekhov, but I went to The Seagull last night and was amazed. What an inspiring, creative, enjoyable, and thoughtful production. I feel very lucky to have been able to see this. I highly recommend going if you don’t yet have tickets. Many thanks to everyone involved in The Seagull!
