Summer program for teens run by police and fire

Registration has opened for the annual police and fire academies in Beacon. The police academy, held at Beacon High School for students ages 14 to 17, takes place the week of July 25. The fire academy, held at Lewis Tompkins Hose Co. for students in grades 7 to 9, takes place the week of August 1.

The academies are designed to help students understand the role police officers and firefighters play in the community and the duties performed and requirements of becoming a police officer or fireman.

The registration deadline is July 15. An application form can be downloaded from cityofbeacon.org.
