Louise Tonyes (1927-2018)

Louise M. Tonyes, 90, a resident of Newburgh since 2013, and formerly of Garrison, died on March 15, 2018, at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor.

Born May 13, 1927, in Jamaica, Queens, she was the daughter of Vincenzo and Jenny (Zatto) Ciavattini. On Nov. 26, 1949, she married Henry J. Tonyes Jr. at St. Monica’s Church in Queens.

Louise worked as a physical therapy aide and was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening, painting, playing with her dogs, travel, shopping, and visits to the casino. She loved babies and children. She cherished spending time with her family and showering them with gifts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Henry J. Tonyes III (Karen) of Moseley, Virginia; John H. Tonyes (Colleen) of East Fishkill; Monica L. Anderson (Dane) of Newburgh; and Vincent J. Tonyes (Kimberly) of Beacon;  her grandchildren: Michelle (Jeff), Jennifer (Steve), Stephanie (Mark), Samantha (Dave), Paige (Ryan), Shaun (Jenna), Dane (Megan), Zachary, Sophia, Vincent, Joshua, and Jackson; and her great-grandchildren: Elaina, Jacob, Antonio, Katherine, Alyssa, Riley, and Emily.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at the McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main St., in Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St., in Fishkill, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.

Marie Uberbacher (1926-2018)

Marie E. Uberbacher, 92, of Copake and formerly of Garrison, died March 10, 2018, at Wingate at Fishkill.

Born March 3, 1926, in Cold Spring, she was the daughter of Edward and Maude (O’Dell) Mason. She grew up in Garrison and graduated from Haldane High School. In her younger years she was a singer in The Mason Sisters. She married George Uberbacher, who died in 2001.

She is survived by her children, Karen Dutcher, Kathy Domerew and Eric Uberbacher, as well as three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A graveside service was held March 16 at Cold Spring Cemetery.
